Clothing of the American Mind Announces Spring T-Shirt Line
(Los Angeles, California) – Clothing of the American Mind, the premier purveyors of politically conscious clothing geared toward promoting and supporting progressive change, is proud to announce the launch of its new Spring line. Founded in March 2004, Clothing of the American Mind is the foremost fashion outlet for more than 55 million Americans who voted for change on November 2, 2004.
“Our new line highlights some of the issues most relevant to the current progressive mindset,” says Caitlin Blue, the film/television set decorator who founded the up-and-coming, Los Angeles-based company. “Issues such as election reform, war and civil rights are part of the daily dialogue among the millions working for a positive future for America. Our clothes are a way for people to voice their dissent in a fashionable way while instigating a dialogue for change.”
Inspired by the 2004 presidential campaign, Clothing of the American Mind raised more than $13,000 for progressive political groups including MoveOn.org, Amnesty International, The Progressive Majority, The League of Pissed Off Voters, Progressive Democrats of America, Peace Action and Office of the Americas as well as the Democratic National Committee and the Kerry campaign. It can also be credited with registering thousands of new voters during its month-long cross-country voter registration and mobilization effort. Most recently, the clothing company donated funds to support the ongoing election recount effort spearheaded by Black Box Voting. The company will continue to support and partner with these and other like-minded organizations working toward positive progressive change.
“Clothing of the American Mind is for informed people with a highly attuned moral compass,” says Blue, who firmly believes that using fashion as a billboard for educating people and raising awareness is an extremely effective way to spread socially and politically conscious messages.
Clothing of the American Mind’s new line is highlighted by a redesign of one of its most popular, best-selling t-shirts, “My Bush is Pro-Choice” ($25 at ClothingOfTheAmericanMind.com) by accomplished illustrator/designer Julianna Parr. Having worked with some of Hollywood’s most prominent players, including Disney, Warner Brothers, Tim Burton, Jim Henson Productions and South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, Parr has created a fun, educational and fashionable way to look at the issue of choice. Other designs, including “Electoral College Dropout” and “This Child Left Behind,” will also be available for sale on the company’s website as well as at progressive, fashion-forward boutiques around the country. All designs are presented on sweatshop-free products from American Apparel, manufactured in downtown Los Angeles. The line offers a wide range of styles and sizes for men, women and children.
Among the company’s customers are many high profile activists and celebrities, including Tom Hanks, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kristin Davis, Ellen DeGeneres, Arianna Huffington, Mark Ruffalo, Janeane Garofalo, Hilary Swank, Alexandra & Vanessa Kerry, Matthew Broderick, Courteney Cox, Drea De Mateo, Gina Gershon, Sheryl Crow, Debra Messing and countless others. Recently, Clothing of the American Mind has been featured in Elle, Entertainment Weekly, Glamour, In Style, People, The New York Times as well as on Good Morning America.
