Fashion 4 Change

An Evening of Fashion and Music in Hollywood
June 25, 2004 – The Spider Club

Hollywood, California – Los Angeles-based apparel company Clothing of the American Mind, in association with co-chairs Kirsty Hume, Amber Valetta and Donovan Leitch, proudly presents Fashion 4 Change, a fundraising evening of Democratic-oriented fashion and music.  Taking place on Friday, June 25th at the Spider Club, Fashion 4 Change will benefit Clothing of the American Mind’s commitment to increasing voter registration across America.  Featuring a fashion show, silent auction and cutting-edge beats provided by DJ John Blista, this will be an entertaining night blending fashion and activism.

Clothing of the American Mind will be showcasing its hugely popular line of topical T-shirts that is taking the nation by storm.  The designs are politically-themed, featuring darkly humorous slogans lambasting the Bush Administration’s wrongdoings.  Catch phrases like “Axis of Evil Doers,” “Environmental Destroyers,” “Halliburton Overchargers” and “No Child Left Behinders” are printed on sports team-like American Apparel jersey T-shirts.  There is also a full line of tees, tank tops, underwear and shorts encouraging all to “VOTE” come November.

100% of the net proceeds from this star-studded event will benefit Clothing of the American Mind, whose nationwide campaign to increase voter awareness and registration will culminate in a cross-country road trip throughout the month of July.  Voter registration rallies will be held along the way, leading up to and finishing at the Democratic National Convention from July 26 – 29 in Boston, Massachusetts.

Clothing of the American Mind was founded in mid-2004 in response to the vast unyielding money-making machine of the current administration and the alternative idea vacuum that has become the order of the day.  The company has found the ideal way to simultaneously make a statement while starting a dialogue of the real issues.  All net proceeds go to reputable organizations committed to the advancement of progressive political causes and for tossing George W. Bush and his posse out of the White House.  For more information or to purchase T-shirts, visit www.clothingoftheamericanmind.com.

Fashion 4 Change: An Evening of Fashion and Music in Hollywood will take place on Friday, June 25th from 6 – 9 pm at the Spider Club, located at 1735 North Vine in Hollywood.  Cover is $20.

Clothing of the American Mind Hits the Road

A Campaign for Voter Registration Across America
July 2004

Los Angeles, California – On July 9th Los Angeles-based not-for-profit apparel company, Clothing of the American Mind, will embark on a cross-country voter registration campaign hitting key cities in thirteen vital swing states and culminating at the Democratic National Convention in Boston from July 26 – 29. Clothing of the American Mind will register thousands of new voters and promote progressive political change leading up to November’s presidential election.

Founded by Caitlin Blue in March 2004 in conjunction with the one-year anniversary of the United States’ invasion of Iraq, Clothing of the American Mind is a response to the vast, unyielding money-making machine of the current administration. The company is a grassroots effort to combat the lack of strong alternative political ideas that have characterized American society since George W. Bush stole the White House in November 2000. Clothing of the American Mind has created an ideal way to make a statement while simultaneously starting a dialogue of the real issues and raising funds for organizations working for Democratic change, including the Democratic National Committee, Kerry for President, MoveOn.org, Office of the Americas, Peace Action, Southwest Voter Registration and others. Wear your dissent stylishly while doing your part to get Bush out of office.

Accompanying founder/designer Caitlin Blue aboard the RV will be partner Valerie Dillman, in addition to two acclaimed filmmakers, Giuseppe Asaro and Joan Van Tassel. Giuseppe Asaro is the director of the award-winning documentary “A Voice From Heaven” based on the life and music of Pakistani singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Joan Van Tassel is an Emmy-nominated documentarian who has contributed to ABC’s Nightline as well as the Los Angeles’ PBS affiliate. The duo will shoot footage for a grassroots political documentary following this group of young Americans making their way across the United States in an effort to win back the country. The goal of the road trip and ensuing documentary is to promote public education and awareness, inspire and register disenchanted voters, and carry a powerful, positive message to the Democratic National Convention and the Kerry/Edwards campaign. It might sound like MTV’s “Road Rules,” but in fact, this is The Real World. Follow the political progression at www.clothingoftheamericanmind.com.

The Clothing of the American Mind RV will be stopping in the following cities:
Friday, July 9th – Tucson, Arizona
Saturday, July 10th – Phoenix, Arizona

In addition, the company will showcase its hugely popular line of topical t-shirts, which have taken the nation by storm. The designs are politically-themed, featuring darkly humorous slogans lambasting the Bush Administration’s shortcomings and wrongdoings. Tongue-in-cheek team names like “Axis of Evil Doers,” “Environmental Destroyers,” “Halliburton Overchargers” and “No Child Left Behinders” are printed on sweatshop-free American Apparel jersey t-shirts. There is also a full line of tees, tank tops, underwear, sweatpants, shorts and onesies encouraging all to “VOTE” come November.
